This month we have celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee; 60 years on the throne and Queen Elizabeth is close to becoming the longest reigning monarch that Britain has seen… almost as long standing as us! The recent celebrations have brought the nation out on to the streets of London to show the rest of the world how much we love our Queen. The Diamond Jubilee has brought the British public together and the British street party tradition was in full force with at least 10,000 street parties organised to celebrate the occasion. Despite the typical British “summer” weather, the nation displayed their patriotism and came out onto the streets of London in their millions to show their support of Her Majesty in her 60 years of reign.
Whether you are an active royalist or you just love being British, what better way of continuing the royal festivities than with what can only be considered as the fundamental component of British cuisine… fish and chips of course! We are not being biased of course, but one cannot argue that ‘fish and chips’ is not an integral ingredient of British cuisine and has been associated with British culture for longer than Her Majesty herself!
So it only makes sense to pop down to Poppies for some traditional British grub now that the Diamond Jubilee celebrations have flooded the streets of London and the United
Kingdom with a sense of pride and patriotism towards our nation. So, in the spirit of the recent Diamond Jubilee, there isn’t a better time to show our love for our Queen and our nation, and embrace our Britishness with some good old fish and chips.
Here at Poppies, we aim to serve fish and chips to the upmost traditional values. Her Majesty herself has the reputation of being a stickler for protocol, and like the Queen, we are perfectionists in our trade and only serve the best. We are not modernists we are sticklers for tradition. Poppies Fish and Chips is not about serving customers with modern bite size portions that can hardly be considered a meal, our fish and chips are all served in newspaper – the way it should be!
If you have been enjoying the recent royal celebrations like us, and are in the mood for some proper hearty British grub, then pop down to Poppies for the nation’s favourite Fish and Chips!
